dep-rider-shoot-mvr-d-2073-loHey everyone,
Last weekend (29th and 30th August) was my last Women’s World MX round! I’d spent the past month in Belgium riding at Lommel which has deep sand. It was all going well and I felt pretty confident about the last GP in Lierop (Netherlands) before, on the 21st, I had a bike failure on the face of a tabletop. The front wheel dropped and there was nothing I could do about it, crashed and had be taken to hospital to get checked over! I had bruises everywhere, blurred vision in my left eye and worst of all, ligament and muscle damage on my upper right leg, although but nothing was broken. :)

I spent the next week then going to see Eve (my sports trainer in Belgium) who got me into a very good physio. I’d like to say thanks very much to all them for all their help!! On Thursday 27th I tried riding at the Eindhoven track but felt sore and stiff so didn’t ride for very long. On Friday Eve took me to the physio again for one last bit of treatment where I also had my leg strapped for support…

Saturday I didn’t ride much in free practise and timed qualifying but still ended up first in practise and third in timed qualifying, which obviously I was pretty happy with! Between all my time outs I had a quick look at the track then tried to just rest up! Then at 6pm we had our first race where I didn’t make such a good start and almost crashed with Elien Dewinter. I also hit my leg (which wasn’t great!) and only ended up 5th but I was happy to finish!! Then in Sunday morning free practise I again just took a few laps to have a look at track. I then got the holeshot in race two before Steffi Lair passed me. Then she had a little crash but got back up to 3rd behind me and Fontanesia. Me and Chiara were having a good battle back and forth for the lead! My leg was getting sorer every lap though so I just backed off and finished 3rd. Steffi and Fontanesia got back passed me but well done to them as they were riding awesome!! I ended up 4th overall on the day and moved up to 3rd in championship!! I’m very happy with my 3rd overall in the World Championship. :D Now I will rest up before my last few races in England for women’s British championship and Women’s Red Bull MX of Nations!!

dep-rider-shoot-mvr-d-2073-loSo guys, it’s been a while. We’ve only got one more women’s GP left this year and I am now 4th in the championship, 29 points behind 3rd. With a maximum 50 points available from the final Dutch meeting, it’s going to be hard to get but anything can happen!!

My season did not start out so well thanks to a big crash at the first GP in Bulgaria. Then I also hurt my ankle a few weeks later. Since then though things have been getting better every race, to the point that I just missed on a podium in Germany before finally, for first time this year, making the rostrum in Sweden with third places in both motos!! :)

I am now in Belgium testing, training and setting up my bike on the sand for the season finale at Lierop. The sand is so much deeper and different here than anywhere else so it’s important that I come here beforehand to get used to riding in it!!

Catcha later

Hi

Hope everyone is keeping good! So Last weekend was the first round of the Women’s World Championships in Bulgaria which Motors showed live on TV :) !!!

It wasn’t such a good weekend for me though as I had a big crash in free practice which left me with a sore back and neck!! I qualified in 5th which I was happy with as the top seven girls were all basically the same speed…

I had a good start in moto one and got up to 2nd position. But on the second lap I made a silly mistake on a corner and crashed so ended up getting 6th!! I didn’t get such a good start in Moto two and this time was in the middle of pack but I made up good ground by lap two and was into 4th position. Then, going through the rhythm section, me and Ashley Fiolek (3rd) collided and I went down – my bike all twisted at the front – so I only managed to get back up to 9th position which left me 7th overall in the championship!! I’m happy enough with that but hope to do better at round 2 in Portugal!!

Last weekend I did a women’s Red Bull national in England, taking three wins out of three so I’m happy with that. I’m still having problems with my back though so this week I will not ride and try to find out what the problem is!!

I’ll let you know how I get on.

Hey everyone,

So this is my first blog for Motors TV! I’m very excited about getting asked to do this :) .

For those who don’t know, I’m a motocross rider. My team is MVR-D Suzuki and this year, for the first time ever, the Women’s World Championship will be live on TV all thanks to the help of Motors!!
I’ve been at home in Ireland for a few weeks doing some men’s races to help get ready for the start of the Women’s World champs on 5th of April.

Normally I live in England with my team but as the women do not compete at all rounds of the men’s World and British champs (I also do the women’s British series), it is better for me to be at home right now riding in the Irish championships and means that I also get some time with my family!

Today I passed my driving test :) . Now I’m just about go to the gym and tomorrow I will try do some riding before packing up to go back to England on Wednesday. I won’t be there long – Thursday we leave for Bulgaria in time for the season’s first Women’s World MX GP this weekend! I can’t wait!!

Alright, that’s enough from me just now. I will keep you all posted on how my first race goes.

Speak soon
