Saturday

Good weather for testing, the car was handling great and I was a good half second faster than anyone.

Sunday

The track stayed dry for qualifying, despite the dark clouds, and I managed to keep on pole right through the session, although David Sleigh was only a few thousandths of a second behind, with Vic Covey only three tenths behind that, in third.

Race 1

Got a good start at the lights, keeping first going into Duffus, with David glued to my back bumper.  Going into the chicane on cold tyres, I nearly lost the back end, allowing him to get alongside – some wheel banging occurred on the way into Carlube but I managed to hold him off and keep him behind for a few laps until I pulled out a gap, leaving him, Vic and Rory Butcher to battle for second place.  Pretty good race win and fastest lap for me, with Sleigh second and Covey in third.

Race 2

A good opening lap with a great start as in race one.  I led into the first corner with no sideways action this time, and pulled out a half-second lead, allowing me to concentrate on taking the proper lines.  Behind me, David Sleigh in second was doing all he could to hold off Vic Covey in third.  I saw them come together a few times in my rear view mirror until Dave got a drive-through penalty for hitting the floppy markers three times going through the chicane.  This, of course, allowed Covey up to second and Rory third, but unfortunately for David dropped him down to twelfth place.  Another great win and fastest lap for me though!

Race 3

Reverse grid time, as always, drawing number five, so started in fifth place.  Took a good, cautious start in an attempt to keep out of trouble, and got past Geoff Gillies at Duffus, allowing me to get straight on the tail of Rory Butcher.  Coming into the hairpin, Rory tried to make a move on Vic, which compromised his exit, thus allowing me to get alongside Rory and take the inside line for Duffus, going through and and heading for Vic’s rear bumper.  Kenneth Brewster on pole had pulled out a three second lead, and I made a number of attempts to pass Vic, but had to keep a constant watch in my mirrors as Rory was waiting to pounce.  Going into the last lap, Rory dropped back after running wide on the second last corner.  This was my chance to get past Vic, and on the last corner of the last lap I slid down the inside at the hairpin, but he had the door firmly shut.  I decided on a wild move round his outside and got alongside, making slight contact, and it was a drag race to the finish, with only hundredths of a second separating us.  However, it was Vic that took the second place, me in third, after an action-packed third race, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.  A great first win for Kenneth Brewster, and all-in-all a fantastic weekend, with thanks to Tynecastle Racing for a great car, and less than a week go to the next away race at Oulton Park, with my Championship lead extended to 20 points…
