Menasheh Idafar: Testing’s over – next stop Monza!
Welcome to my first blog of 2011 here on the Motors TV website. It doesn’t seem all that long since I was celebrating winning the National Class championship and now we’ve only got a week to wait until the first race of the new season!
I think testing has gone well so far, we’ve progressively improved the car throughout since my first run in it and I’m really enjoying driving it. The Volkswagen engine feels great and is very flexible, I think it works well on all tracks since it has a good top end and good punch out of the corners.
The aim this year is to finish in the championship top six. I know that’s going to be really tough, and there are a lot of very quick drivers in British F3 this season, but I think that can be achievable if I am consistently in the points.
We really did have a fantastic season last year, winning the National Class was incredible and to be on the main podium during the final round was amazing…it was a perfect way to end the season. I know this year will be a really big challenge, we have so much hard work ahead, but we’re going to do the very best we can.
I’m really looking forward to Monza, it’s such a fantastic track and has so much history. Hopefully we can start the season with three strong results and come back to the UK for the next round at Oulton Park in pretty good shape.
I’ll be updating you with my progress throughout the season, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the racing this year.
